Preschool Ministry

NextGen Partner 2

"Children are a blessing from the Lord." Psalm 127:3

As the father of three children, I can attest to the excitement and adventure of parenting, but it is also a huge responsibility. The decisions and choices we make early in our children's lives will affect them for the rest of their lives. This is especially true in the spiritual realm.

The Preschool Ministry at First Baptist wants to partner with you, offer encouragement and support as you raise your children. We believe that foundations of faith are laid in the lives of our preschoolers and that the Lord will bring to fruition at His appointed time.

When your child is at First Baptist, we offer a special environment for them to feel loved and cared for, with both paid and volunteer workers who have been specially trained. All of our staff members have been thoroughly screened for security.

We also want to provide experiences that enable them to:

  • Hear about Jesus and His love for them.
  • Know that the Bible is a special book about God and Jesus.
  • Begin to associate God and Jesus with feelings of wonder, love, and happiness.

Please check all of the resources offered here. If you are new to First Baptist, see "Your First Visit" to find out how to make your initial visit a smooth one.

Feel free to contact me or anyone on our Preschool Ministry staff. I hope we will see your family this week at First Baptist Church.

Family Dedications

Family Dedications are a special event at First Baptist. We want to celebrate the new addition to your
family and encourage you as parents to bring up your children in the “discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4). We have a special day planned for you and your family.

The day will begin with a one-time class for parents at 11 a.m. led by our Preschool Pastor. This class will include topics such as: Understanding Parent/Family Dedication, ideas for implementing the spiritual
development of your child as well as the role of the church in the life of your child.

At the conclusion of the class, parents, along with their immediate family members will be our guest at a lunch hosted by the Preschool Ministry.

After lunch (1 p.m.) families will participate in a special Family Dedication Ceremony led by our Pastor,
Dr. Bruce Chesser. Any special friends and other family members can be invited to join us in Fellowship Hall-B for the ceremony at 1 p.m. Participating families will receive a Read-To-Me Bible, dedication photo and
certificate, along with other special gifts to commemorate the day.

For additional information or to register your family for the event, please contact Lisa Bates at 447.1382 or

A.D.O.P.T. (Adoptions of His Perfect Timing) MINISTRY

“Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the
good pleasure of His will, to the praise and glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in
the beloved.” Ephesians 1:5-6 (KJV)

Our mission is to provide families a Christ-centered environment to fellowship, support, and
spread the blessing of adoption.

  • Embrace and teach our own adoption into God’s family through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  • Provide a support system and means of education to families who have, are in the process of, or interested in adoption.
  • Encourage families to consider adoption as a means of increasing their family as well as provide a viable alternative to abortion.
  • Encourage the church body to support through prayer the ministry of adoption, families who are adopting, and orphaned children throughout the world.

The A.D.O.P.T. Ministry meets quarterly on Sunday evenings from 5:00-6:15 p.m. in Weekley Room 2231. Contact Phil Hoyt at 447.1316 or for more information
